L.A. Gabriel Browne

L.A. Gabriel Browne

Architect & General Contractor

A native of Northern New Mexico and fifth generation Santa Fean, Gabe got his start in building at the tender age of ten, working as a construction laborer building custom homes in Dixon, New Mexico. By 18, Gabe’s passion for architecture and the building process bloomed with the design and construction of his first custom home, a 1000 square foot off-the-grid home in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico.

Gabe earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of New Mexico and furthered his education with a Masters of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Gabriel worked for Van H. Gilbert, Architect in Albuquerque and a small design/build company in Santa Fe as part of his Architectural Internship. He received his Architectural license in 1997 and his General Contractor's license in 1998. Eager to create an integrated firm dedicated to creating high-quality, innovative and sustainable homes and workspaces, Gabe created Praxis Design/Build in 1998. His first employee was his mother, Sandy Lynch, who served as a dedicated part of the Praxis team for 10 years before retiring in 2008.

Gabe lives in Santa Fe with his wife, Mariam Read Browne, and their two children. When he’s not working with clients, Gabe pursues his other passions: spending time with his family and skiing and backpacking in the New Mexico wilderness.

In 2003, Simon returned to school to pursue his passion for architecture, and in 2005 he and his wife moved to Santa Fe, where today simon works closely with Gabriel to organize and create the carefully crafted drawings that are the Praxis stock-in-trade. When he’s not working with the Praxis team, Simon likes to play in the mountains with his wife and their dog.
