Gabriel (Gabe) Browne founded PRAXIS ARCHITECTS INC in 1998 soon after he acquired his license to practice architecture in New Mexico. Since then, he has successfully designed dozens of beautiful, imaginative and award-winning custom homes, commercial projects, remodels and restorations. His designs were among the first in New Mexico to achieve LEED Platinum status. He and his staff look forward to working with you. L.A. GABRIEL BROWNE
Architect and General Contractor
A native of Northern New Mexico and a fifth generation New Mexican, Gabe began his building career at age ten, working alongside his mother Sandy Lynch as a construction laborer building custom homes in Dixon, New Mexico. By 18, Gabe's passion for architecture and building earned him his first design and construction project, a 1,000 square foot, off-the-grid custom home in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico.
A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, Gabe acquired a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of New Mexico. He continued his education at the University of Illinois in Chicago, earning his Masters degree in architecture.
Gabriel cut his professional teeth working for architect Van H. Gilbert in Albuquerque and, later, as an architectural intern for a small design/build firm in Santa Fe. He received his architecture license in 1997 and his general contractor's license in 1998.
Eager to create an integrated firm dedicated to creating high-quality, innovative and sustainable homes and workspaces, Gabe founded PRAXIS Design/Build in 1998. His first employee was his mother, who devoted 10 years to the PRAXIS team before retiring in 2008.
Gabe lives in Santa Fe with his wife, Mariam Read Browne, and their two teenage children. When he's not satisfying the needs and desires of his clients, Gabe pursues his other passions, spending time with his family, skiing, running with his wife, who is marathoner, and, when they can get away, overseas travel.
